Low-Waste Update

I know I haven’t posted anything zero-waste lately but rest assured, I haven’t given up. My current zero-waste goals are:

  • Sort out all the plastic bags from the recycling & take back to the store to recycle. (in progress)

  • Get my family to start using reusable bags at other stores besides Aldi. (not started yet)

  • Finish growing my first batch of Apple Cider Vinegar. (in progress)

  • Rebuild my old netbook and make it operational again. (Done)

  • Make several rugs from scrap cotton t-shirts. (in progress)

  • Buy only used carbon offset books. (Done)

  • Complete adopted rescue pup’s training. (80% complete)

  • Decentralized services online & encrypted email. Usually used to share the latest news articles, DIY tips for growing different types of plants, and to get around censorship filters that like to black out words like 'socialism'.

  • Illegally growing your own fruits and veggies indoors & mixed into your flower beds outdoors. “I didn't plant blueberries sir, those are small decorative juniper bushes.”

  • Your house is not only filled with herbs but houseplants. Seriously, your living room is now half jungle.

  • A week before a protest your floor is covered in art supplies but that's ok, because: A. It's for a good cause. B. You're going to reuse and recycle those supplies until they start disintegrating in your hands.

  • Building a community garden, establishing a seed bank, starting a tor service, donating to your local library, helping your community paint a mural, starting a recycling program, building a little library? Your game. You just need to know when and where.

  • Your a student and a lifelong learner. Save the humanities. promote academic freedom. Fck student loans. Fck journal subscriptions. Fck textbook prices. Fck university presses. Creative commons, opensource, open textbooks, free university, and MOOCs for life!

  • You can mainly be found in the following places: Cafes, Libraries, Science, Art, & History museums, taking a language class, or dropping in on a stargazing meetup.

  • You wonder why everyone seems to be promoting an unsustainable system when we could literally be moving towards a semi-post scarcity society.

  • You started out with one adopted pet. Now you have two or three. You don't know when you'll stop randomly adopting pets.

  • You want to learn all the languages. But especially those of your ancestors.

  • You study history long enough to realize it's a b.s. and it's time to decolonize history.

  • You stare at the sky in wonder. You have questions, so many questions. You decide to seek out the answers.
